1930s Swirl Skirt - Navy
A fabulous early 1930s inspired skirt with curved waistband and clever panels for a flattering fit.
This exquisite skirt is based on the skirt of an early 1930s dress - we have taken the style lines and transformed into a versatile stretch linen skirt and added some nice features too
Calf length on most people - skirt has a bias panels cut into a curve on front (tricky to explain but trust us, it looks great!) and creates that flattering 1930s cut of close fitting on the hips but has some swing below.
We are just in love with the waistband which is curved at the centre front to give that extra interest. Button fastening and zip. Fabric is a linen/viscose stretch - which means we have been able to create that close fit with a bit of give.
This skirt reaches mid to low calf on average height ladies - a typical length fashionable in the mid 1930s.

The color of the skirt I received is not the color depicted in the photos. The color is like their berry color way, it’s red not purple. I don’t understand how they claim the skirt can change color in lighting. I’ve looked at this in multiple different lights, all looks red. The only way it can change color is through the camera being used. You’d think they’d take new photos if the color wasn’t depicted correctly. I’m really disappointed because half the reason I bought the skirt is because of that gorgeous purple color. And here I am stuck with it because to ship it back to the UK isn’t worth it. They did not offer any resolution. The skirt itself is nice, but the hem does hang a little off because of how it’s pieced.
Lovely skirt in good quality fabric and well cut. Very flattering fit. I ordered size 14 and it was true to size. Will keep an eye out for more items from House of Foxy.

I love this style of skirt, and find it works for any occasion. The fit is true to size and extremely flattering. I now have a couple of colours but plan on adding more to my collection.
I adore everything I purchased in my first order! I wasn't sure how this skirt would fall on me, I'm 5'10" and so often skirts like this are too short. This hits me at a perfect midi length, a couple inches below my knee. The fabric is lovely. It drapes beautifully and is flattering. I also want to note that I wear black all the time, and all of the pieces I purchased match... The black tone is the same, which I really appreciate.
I am a size 12 US, I purchased my pieces in a 16 UK and they fit wonderfully. I am broad shouldered and purchased a jacket in a size 18 UK...I am thrilled with the fit.

Recently had to rebuild my wardrobe, & honestly cannot recommend the House of Foxy as a brand highly enough. Everything is well made, beautiful on & perfect for both work & elsewhere.
This skirt is no exception. It’s a good length (below knee) & flattering due to the bias cut. I purchased based on my hip size & that was the best call.
You do have to consider your underwear with this skirt, because it shows any lines/bumps.

The skirt falls beautifully, and has a rich dark blue colour. I sized up from my waist measurement, both because my hips are half a size bigger but I also find that HoF generally runs a bit smaller than some years ago.
This is by far my favorite HOF skirt, so I have it in Aubergine too. The unique seaming and crepe fabric give it that perfect 1930s flow. The swirl skirt is both flattering and comfortable to wear. Suitable for a vintage event or a normal day in the office. Fast international shipping too - I received my order in just 2 weeks!

Had to return it, the waist was too tight. I purchased the same size of the several Foxy dresses and pants I already own. Reluctant to order the next size up and risk shipping it all the way to the U.S. only for that size to also not fit.

What I like the best is how elegant this skirt falls, I also like that it is a bit longer than the swirl skirt. Only minus for me is, that in my opinion the waist to hip gap in this model (like the flutter skirt) is a bit too small. I sized up and can take the waist band in for a perfect fit.
The aubergine colour is lovely, similar to berry, but a tiny bit darker with a splash of purple.
